Eye on the Government Printing Office

The Washington Post Federal Eye by Ed O'Keefe video profile focuses on Peter James, a GPO employee. Mr. James is responsible for "building, binding and marbling some of the most important government documents." I've had the pleasure of watching Mr. James demonstrate marbling edges of documents and seen works in progress along with some final results. It's amazing. Survey of Food Intakes by Individuals

We're going thru our CD/DVD collection and this title caught my eye. I believe it's something that our nutrition students might find interesting. The same data from our CDs and more is available on the food surveys tab of the USDA website.

This caught my eye, What's in the Foods You Eat Search Tool, 3.0. You can find nutrient profiles for 13,000 commonly eaten foods in the U.S. Very cool!

Re-launch of GPO.gov

GPO is pleased to announce the re-launch of its agency Web site, http://www.gpo.gov. This enhanced site includes separate Web pages for FDLP and LSCM information for the public. The new Web pages will help inform the public about and lead the public to Federal depository libraries. The redesigned site includes links to FDsys, GPO Access, the Catalog of U.S. Government Publications, the Federal Depository Library Directory, The FDLP Desktop, Ben's Guide,

and more, as well as Web pages for each of the agency's departments. (from announcements from the FDLP)

The enhanced site includes a Depository Library Spotlight (select Libraries link) which is currently spotlighting the documents collection at the University of Alabama. Congratulations to UA for being the first spotlighted library!
